The "Fishing" Trip (Flounder)
Season: May - September
From beginners to experienced, this trip is an all-around fishing experience. Look to catch: Flounder, Dogfish, Stripers, Weakfish, Kingfish, Sea Bass, Bluefish, Spot, Eels, Oyster Crackers, Stargazers, Blowfish, Cow Nose Rays, Skates....
Trip Lengths: 2, 3 and 4 Hrs. (2 Hrs.-best for small children and beginners, 3 Hrs. - families with a little boating experience and older kids, 4 hrs. best for those that live & breathe fishing and all that goes with it.)
Where: Back bay, ocean or reef Prices: Vary by time/# of fishers
Departure Times: WE DO NOT "blanket schedule” fishing trips at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM; smart fishers know fish bite better at certain times of the day and tide. For those reasons, departure times and spots are carefully chosen for you; therefore, departure times are based on environmental conditions best suited for catching fish. Of course, if a suggested time does not work for you, we'll schedule based on your schedule and do our best.
Location of Departure: We depart from the base of the Ocean City 9th St. Bridge on the Somers Point side - next to the Waterfront Marina. Please arrive just 5-10 minutes prior to departure time and text Capt. Chris upon arrival. Use #1 Goll Ave. Somers Point for GPS.
Season: April - December
Stripers are one of the region's most sought after species. But Stripers can be elusive and picky. That makes catching them all the more rewarding. They're caught by casting lures, live-lining, and trolling. Skill levels range from basic to skilled.
Trip Lengths: 3 and 6 hours (Fall run is 6 hours.)
Where: River, bay and ocean (During November and December, our "fall run," trolling the ocean or "snag & drop," out to 3-mile line is typical.)
Departure Times: Count on pre or near sunrise departures for best results. Resident Striped Bass bite best at night and sunrise/sunset. They reside in specific spots. Generally, resident fish are caught on live bait (bloodworms, eels, bunker, clam) and lures. Lures require a moderate level of casting expertise and fishing technique. Fishing with bloodworms or cut bait, just requires basic level casting ability, and that can usually be mastered after a few tries.
Season: June - August
Sharks are all muscle, necessitating heavy gear and some of your brute strength. The fight is fantastic. It all starts at sunrise. We'll set up a chum slick, float out 3 baits, at various depths and wait for Mr. Shark. When he bites, the reel's clicker goes "Zzzzzzzzz" and it's game on! Immediately, all lines must be reeled in, making teamwork vital. A shark will run hard several times, pull you around the boat and make you sweat and tired. If it's a Thresher, it's a keeper. Other species (Brown, Dusky, Spinner...) must be released in the water. Your shark can be tagged, too! You won't forget the fight. (NOAA tag kit aboard. Shark fishing requires an H.M.S. permit for the vessel, which I possess.) Must be in good health.
Trip Length/Departure Details: This can be the MOST EXCITING fishing available for up to 3 fishers. It's an ocean trip that departs at or before sunrise. We travel at least a few miles off the beach and drift. Trip lasts 5-6 hours. (Absolutely no small children.)
